Her quick assessment, collaboration, and action not only saved my Dad's life but gave me "My Dad" back.
Just like any other Wednesday morning, my Dad was playing golf and I was at work. Around lunch, I received the call that no one ever wants to receive. My Dad was on his way to the hospital with a possible stroke. Many factors were at play that morning that I credit with saving my Dad. His golfing buddies wasted no time in getting help, there happened to be a paramedic on the golf course and the ambulance brought my Dad to Midtown which I'll forever be grateful for because Alexis was waiting for him. Alexis quickly assessed the situation and got my Dad into CT which was no easy task as he was extremely uncooperative and had lost his sight. Once the results were back that confirmed a very unusual stroke involving both sides of the brain, she consulted IR and Atlanta to confirm the best course of action, She kept me informed and amazingly got TPA in my Dad with Super Hero speed. She was with us through the entire ordeal and was so attentive to every detail. She and the ER team celebrated with us as my Dad responded to the drug and regained most of his eyesight. Suffice it to say that Alexis was a true patient and family champion that day. Her quick assessment, collaboration, and action not only saved my Dad's life but gave me "My Dad" back. I will forever be grateful to the ER and ICU staff and leaders involved in my Dad's care. On a side note, just 5 days later, my Dad was at the golf shop buying a new putter.
