I have seen Morgan provide this coaching to parents who are learning how to best support their kids in the face of a challenging diagnosis and support them throughout the learning process.
Morgan is a nurse in the acute care float pool who is consistently pushing herself to go above and beyond to ensure high quality, compassionate care for her patients across the hospital. Morgan maintains competency and provides excellent care for patients on the medical, surgical, rehab, and oncology acute care units, as well as the emergency department and psychiatry and behavioral medicine unit (PBMU).

Morgan has voluntarily opted in to support the PBMU and has done so for years now, throughout the unprecedented pandemic mental health crisis and ED surges she continues to advocate for these kids across the hospital. Morgan is an active member of the Development of Nurses shared governance council and is both the house-wide and acute care float pool mentor coordinator, ensuring our new hires are paired with an experienced nurse for mentorship and support while they transition into their new role, in which they work with nearly every service in our hospital. This stability and support are essential to our team's success.

While working with behavioral medicine patients, Morgan consistently provides education to her patients, and importantly, to her colleagues working alongside her. Whether in the ED or on the acute care floors, when working with providers and nursing peers who are less familiar with behavioral medicine, she is able to provide insight and make suggestions in an approachable, consistent manner that helps to ensure these patients receive the care they deserve. I have seen Morgan provide this coaching to parents who are learning how to best support their kids in the face of a challenging diagnosis and support them throughout the learning process.

Morgan is now pursuing her nurse practitioner license and I know will be a phenomenal provider and advocate wherever she ends up. She is an exceptional nurse, advocate, and educator that makes her team stronger and her patients' experiences richer as they continue to develop the skills they'll need for their futures.
