During the few days that my father spent in the cardio unit, he received amazing care from Matt. My dad is reluctant to give out compliments but regularly mentioned how great Matt was to him. When visiting, I saw this firsthand as Matt talked him through things so he would understand what was going on. He gave advice about how to stand up from his chair, which greatly improved his confidence in standing up. Additionally, Matt was able to convince him to take multiple walks, which he had not done in a few days. Lastly, and most importantly, Matt was able to adjust his schedule to carve out 30 minutes of time to take my father down to the lobby/outside so he could spend time with his granddaughters (ages 10 & 8). Unfortunately, this hospital visit overlapped entirely with our family visit from Texas, so I was worried that he would miss seeing them all together. Those 30 minutes were so important to my father that he said "this is exactly what I needed as he hugged his granddaughters goodbye." I can honestly say that I am going to remember that moment for the rest of my life and it would not have been possible if it were not for Matt. I simply cannot thank him enough.
