Tyler went above and beyond in the care of our daughter, C. This was our third ICU stay and we've been in and out of the hospital for months, and Tyler's care meant so much to us exhausted, concerned parents. Three really important components stood out: his kindness and gentleness toward our baby during every interaction/intervention, the friendly and respectful way he treated us parents, and his proactive and consistent interaction with and escalation to the rest of the care team.

Tyler learned our names and called us by them, instead of the generic "Mom" and "Dad." He explained the reasoning behind all med changes and procedures. He whispered and slid the door shut when she fell asleep. He noticed when an IV was going bad before it caused a clot. He paid homage to nurses that have been doing this for decades, humbly stating he felt strange calling them his colleagues with how much experience they have compared to him. We think he deserves a spot among them. Over and over again, he demonstrated that doing his job phenomenally was of utmost importance to him. We first met Tyler in 2020 when our daughter had her first metabolic crisis at only a few days old, and now, a year later, back in the ICU, it's clear that his growth mindset has propelled him from great to excellent. Tyler's humanity, coupled with his incredible nursing skills, has made our ICU stays significantly better. Thank you, Tyler.
