Janet applies her clinical skills and nursing experience to deliver the highest quality of care.
Janet Rosario is an outstanding nurse, coworker, and person. She is a valuable asset to the Mount Sinai South Nassau community. She sets an example of professionalism and compassion that leads others to reflect on their own performance. It is an honor to nominate her as a DAISY Nurse. Janet applies her clinical skills and nursing experience to deliver the highest quality of care. As a young woman, she brought her nursing skills to this country, adapted to American practice, and instilled her kind demeanor into her care delivery. In the pediatric department, she is attentive to the comfort and needs of her patients and their families. Patients have mentioned how supportive she was to them by name during Nurse Manager rounds. She admits the patients with a smile and toys. She assures that everything is prepared, and the admission process runs smoothly. She always seeks to learn and grow, becoming a certified nurse this year. She willingly shares her knowledge, offering to precept students and other nurses. She looks for ways to improve patient care and discreetly brings ideas and concerns to her manager without embarrassing or pointing fingers at others. She recently came up with suggestions for improvement on how to enhance the more accurate delivery of IV fluids. Her suggestions hopefully will be implemented into a unit, then hospital-wide practice. She is also appreciated by other units that she floats to for her teamwork and efficiency. Janet supports her peers by participating in unit events, even when she can't physically attend. She is active in several hospital committees. She is encouraging toward her coworkers. She is willing to lend a supportive ear to their concerns. She displays compassion for them through their work and personal challenges. This was displayed during a time when one of our nurses became seriously ill. She planned a retirement party for her when she became too ill to work with an itinerary that beautifully honored her. When she passed away, Janet, in her own grief, reminded her peers of the love and passion that the woman had for each of them. I cannot think of a better place for Janet Rosario to work other than healthcare. When someone is vulnerable, it is kind and supportive people that you want around. Janet embraces her gifts and shares them to make things better for others.
