Tamara went above and beyond with her care for him. She stayed well past the end of her shift ensuring that he was comfortable and that his pain and anxiety were well controlled.
The patient was a 92 year old male with multi-vessel coronary artery disease and severe angina even with walking from bed to chair. The patient and family met with Palliative Care and decided to place him on comfort care/hospice. Tamara went above and beyond with her care for him. She stayed well past the end of her shift ensuring that he was comfortable and that his pain and anxiety were well controlled. She also spent a lot of time talking with his family at the bedside and was quick to approach the provider (me) with needs or questions. He died peacefully the next morning. The family kept raving about Tamara’s wonderful care, and how she was treating him and them like they were her own family. They were amazed that she stayed so late the night before and commented that she had tears in her eyes when she left. At their request, I called her (she was off that day) and notified her of his death. This is but one example of the exemplary care that she gives her patients.
