She was so encouraging and empathetic. After delivering G, Melanie treated my baby girl with nothing but respect.
In August, we were admitted to MCH Labor and Delivery due to our daughter, G, not having a heartbeat. G was born at 24 weeks sleeping. I had no idea what to expect; this was my first pregnancy and child. I knew that my labor would be induced, but I was oblivious to the events leading up to and after. Melanie Conant was our assigned night nurse. Melanie was so heartfelt, compassionate, attentive, and truly an angel. Hands down, I could not have asked for a better nurse to be with us during such an emotional and gut-wrenching experience. I, too, am an RN and hold a high standard for nurses. My labor was hard, fast, and a rollercoaster of events that could have easily made a turn for the worse. I was thankful that Melanie was at the bedside during my entire delivery. She was so encouraging and empathetic. After delivering G, Melanie treated my baby girl with nothing but respect. She never once belittled me for questions I asked or things I anticipated. She still spoke to our baby girl while cleaning her up for us to hold her. After we were transferred over to the Bereavement area, Melanie still came in and checked on us before leaving to go home. I can’t even write this without crying because Melanie made our emotional and tragic experience beautiful. Melanie will forever hold a special place in my heart. I don’t think she will ever know how her gentle spirit impacted our family.
