My husband is an Alzheimer's patient and many times he is unresponsive. However, when Christiana walks into the room she brings so much joy and life that she transfers it to him. He recognizes her voice and knows that she treats him with love, care, and compassion. His eyes light up and he answers her. As his wife, I feel that she is willing, confident, and capable of taking care of him and meeting his needs. She can get him to eat his food, take his medication and do things that the other nurses cannot. I don't worry if she is his nurse for the day because I know that she cares and will show him the love that he so desperately needs at this time. I believe that she does not just see nursing as a job but as a commitment to God's people, to provide health and healing. The love that she has is on the inside of her and it overflows so that it can be seen on the outside. She is a quintessential nurse.
