She was kind, respectful, and encouraging to our mom. My mother was very comfortable with her.
My mom has been admitted to Sacred Heart for sepsis and pneumonia. We have had great experiences with all of our nurses, RTs, and ancillary staff. Out of all the great caregivers we have had one that stands out as absolutely stellar. This nurse is everything a professional nurse should be. She is smart! She has wonderful critical care thinking skills. She was very competent in navigating a hypertensive crisis with my mom one night as well as caring for her respiratory needs. She closely monitored mom’s needs whether in her room or from monitors at the desk. She came into our room often to assess, reassess and treat mom. When giving mom her meds she told her every single time what she was giving her and why. Whenever she had to touch mom she would ask "may I change your blood pressure cuff to the other arm?" "May I clean this table off?" etc. When I was frustrated with a physician she listened to me, offered to notify her charge nurse, and was supportive, all the while not saying anything negative about the physician. The consummate professional. I never heard her say “I’m tired” “I’m overworked”, or “I’m ready to get off”. Never a word to indicate that she would rather be anywhere but here. She was kind, respectful, and encouraging to our mom. My mother was very comfortable with her. I have been in healthcare for nearly 30 years serving as a bedside nurse manager and director of nursing. I know good nursing and this nurse is exceptional!!! She cared for my mom as if she were caring for her mother or the CEO. This young lady deserves recognition by Sacred. She is a true nurse. She is a wonderful asset to Sacred Heart.
