Before I finished my sentence alerting him, he stood up and was already in the direction of helping out.
It is always difficult in floating, not knowing routines, locations of supplies, and floor habits. I had a great morning getting my med pass done early, moved right into my noon med pass, and was even able to have lunch. After my lunch, my day went bad. My patient needed labs and turned out to need a blood transfusion in addition to hypotensive pressures. I started to have an extremely hard time finding supplies. Every turn was a roadblock in providing care. I paged rapid for assistance. I finally knew I needed assistance and alerted Austin of my troubles and requested help. Before I finished my sentence alerting him, he stood up and was already in the direction of helping out. He was able to get specimens on a tough stick, was later able to get new IV access and assisted with finding and getting supplies. Never once gave me an attitude or made me feel like a bad nurse. He was a true All-star, and he needs to be recognized for his selfless behavior. He even helped my other patients by changing a colostomy bag for me. He was a true leader and a great help. Without him, patient care would have been greatly prolonged. Thank you for listening and just wanted you to know what stars you have on the floor.
