She was such a calming spirit and made my wife feel as comfortable as possible.
My wife and I were expecting our first child this year. It was a healthy pregnancy, however, in the third trimester, my wife developed gestational hypertension. We ended up being sent to the Women's Health unit one evening for monitoring, which was the first time we met Atisha. Again, this was our first child, so we were nervous, to say the least. Atisha was very personable, she explained every test and procedure and spoke to us like she had known us forever. A couple of weeks later at about 37 weeks pregnant, my wife is told an induction would be the best decision in order to keep her and the baby as healthy as possible. We were fortunate enough to have Atisha as our nurse while in Labor & Delivery. She was such a calming spirit and made my wife feel as comfortable as possible. Even when the unit got busy and her patient workload increased, she still made the time to check in on us. She would often ask me, "Dad, is there anything I can do for you." The induction was unsuccessful as my wife was not progressing at all. So, the doctor advised a c-section. Atisha calmed our nerves as she helped prep my wife for surgery. Soon, our baby boy entered the world. Post-section, Atisha gave excellent care for my wife. She worked as if she could read my wife's mind and catered to her successful recovery. We would often ask Atisha questions; is he eating enough, is this normal, how do we do this, and how do we do that, Atisha never once batted an eye towards helping us, giving excellent advice and reassuring affirmations. The nursing care we received from all of the nurses, but especially Atisha, over the 5 days in the hospital was amazing.
