This nomination comes from a patient whose husband has been a patient in many areas of the hospital and HACCC and she has not had one single complaint about anyone or anything. Then she herself ended up in the Emergency Department. She had to have a CT Scan, which terrified her because she has tremendous claustrophobia and memories of scans many years before after a stroke. She started shaking violently, her BP went up, and she didn’t think she could do it.

“Judy Nuber, the ED nurse, kept checking on me. She stayed with me after her shift until I got through my CT Scan. She talked to me the whole time and put a warm damp cloth over my eyes to help me calm down. She talked to me so soothingly, I stopped shaking. She calmed my soul. For her to stay until 1-1:30 am, was incredible. The excellent care and kindness we have always experienced at MaineGeneral continued for me that night and I want to recognize Judy for going beyond the call of duty. Just phenomenal!!”
