I am a social worker on the 4th floor, and I help patients with their discharge plans. Sara was the bedside nurse for our mutual patient and the patient was homeless. This patient had very minimal family support and had nowhere to stay. Sara did an amazing job at helping the patient call shelters and Sara really took her time with her. As a bedside nurse, Sara did not have to assist the patient in this and she could have just left it for me to handle. However, Sara took the initiative to help me. Sara showed compassion and dedication in her work with this patient. As a social worker, it can be tough getting patients set-up at homeless shelters especially when they do not live locally. I found it very helpful that Sara assisted me in the process. I really appreciate Sara for her hard work and generous assistance with this specific patient and case.
