Her role in the ED is one that requires a lot of dedication and hard work and she consistently goes above and beyond to support the team.
Sarah goes above and beyond on a regular basis but most recently she graciously stepped into an even bigger role and supported our team flawlessly as interim manager. Her role in the ED is one that requires a lot of dedication and hard work and she consistently goes above and beyond to support the team. During my absence she took on roles of educating nursing staff in the ED, teaching ENO (Emergency Nursing Orientation), teaching other classes to support staff throughout the facility, and taking on the day-to-day responsibilities of a manager. She did all of these things without hesitation and carried through with all of the responsibilities effortlessly.  I have received nothing but compliments about her leadership during my absence and wanted to take this opportunity to recognize what an amazing leader she is. She is always willing to jump in and take care of patients when the need arises and works tirelessly to ensure that our staff has the knowledge and support to care for patients efficiently each and every day. Thanks to Sarah for her support and for ALWAYS going above and beyond as a leader!

Sarah is an outstanding UBE. From the start of taking her UBE role, she has been very engaged. She is always helpful in providing information that supports the ER and provides any education that improves the quality of care for our ER patients. She always provides the required education necessary for the ER. Sarah voluntarily took ownership of the ALS and PALS Putting It Together classes. These classes provide our nurses with education in critical life-threatening situations. Sarah teaches these classes in such a supportive way that engages her students. Most nursing staff feel intimidated by these types of classes but feedback from her students states she is a supportive and competent teacher. She has always been flexible to provide additional classes for other departments such as OR. Sarah’s role as an educator also reaches the nurse residents for the ER. She participates as an instructor with the ENO classes for the new nursing graduates. Even during her interim role as manager, Sarah continued her role as the UBE and maintained all of her responsibilities. She is always willing to step up and help where needed. She clearly demonstrates Piedmont’s values of Champion Patient-Centered Care, Teamwork, and Being an Owner. She is definitely a leader for her unit. She makes a difference for Piedmont Columbus Northside.

Sarah has done an incredible job with the new nurse residents. She is very caring, and supportive, and volunteered to be a speaker for an upcoming seminar to teach the nurse residents management of critical care patients. As the interim manager, she conducted the biweeklys with all the nurse residents and made sure they were progressing through orientation. The nurse residents talk very highly of her and they appreciate her help and mentorship. She exemplifies compassion and is a true nurse leader.
