If there was a master class in Nursing entitled “the Intangible Act of Empathy” Mariah would be the professor.
My 87-year-old mother had a broken hip / partial hip replacement and a 4-day stay in West Wing 5 at CMH. The entire staff was amazing, skilled, patient, and wonderful. However, there was one nurse who by nature of her personality, knowledge, and care for every detail made her stand out above the rest. If there was a master class in Nursing entitled “the Intangible Act of Empathy” Mariah would be the professor. My family all gave her their own nickname: Mom called her “simply the best”; my 90-year-old father called her “The Nice Lady”; my 23-year-old daughter called her “Queen” and S with no “h” (CMH tech) called her Maria with an “H”. I just called her “mom’s angel on WW5”.
