JoAnn Mullins is the most amazing human. She precepted me when I began the graduate nurse residency program and I am very grateful to her. She not only precepts, but she acts as charge nurse, and also acts as a resource for the unit and sometimes does all these roles in a single day. Her knowledge is unlimited and assists even the most skilled nurses in our unit. She's charming and has a wonderful bedside manner. When a patient decompensates and she is around, she steps in to recommend what needs to be done, she may even take charge, or possibly just lends a hand to ensure the patient has the best outcome. Whenever we have new nurses on the unit, she takes them under her wing to protect and guide them. I jokingly call her the "unit mom" which she absolutely loves, not really....but it is more in regards to her nurturing attitude. The same nurturing attitude that guides the new Grads and seasoned nurses also nurtures her patients. JoAnn has graced the halls of Baylor St. Luke's for 20 years as a nurse and she should be recognized for the wonderful guidance and care she has provided.
