I was admitted with a list of health problems. One issue was swelling in my lower leg, cellulitis. Even after the swelling and redness were gone, the sores, and blisters all healed, the burning sensation in my legs, whenever I stood and/or tried to walk, was so very painful that I would literally jump back in bed. Other than being given antibiotics through an IV drip, nobody did anything to my legs. Every shift I had Madison for my RN, she put medicine on my leg sores, something no one else did, not once. She asked if I had tried compression socks. No, I had not; nobody had suggested we try them until she asked me if I had ever tried wearing them. She got me to ask the doctor about trying them and it was ok’d so she started putting them on me and the results were tremendous. They helped reduce the burning sensation to nearly non-existent when I stood and walked. I also had sores on a few toes and one on the bottom of my right foot that made it painful to walk. She was the only nurse who put medicine on those sores also. She is always professional, polite, and caring. She deserves to be recognized for going above and beyond and I have been fortunate to receive her care.
