Henry took the time to stop in and thank me for sharing our story and saying it had been an inspiration to him. He seemed caring and interested.
One day, after giving my husband his insulin, Henry pulled a chair over beside the bed, sat down, and said “I want to hear your story”. He asked me things like how long we had been married, how we met, if we had children and grandchildren, what we liked to do, what kind of work we did, what family traditions we had, etc. He listened intently to my answers and then shared a bit of his life story with me. About 15 minutes after his shift ended (I assume on his own time) Henry took the time to stop in and thank me for sharing our story and saying it had been an inspiration to him. He seemed caring and interested. He added that even though he had not gotten the opportunity to actually meet and talk to my husband because my husband was on a breathing machine and so heavily sedated, he had enjoyed hearing about him and thanked me for sharing our story.

My husband died the next day. Henry made my time in the ICU much easier as did the doctors and all the staff we had contact with. We were very favorably impressed and can’t say enough good about the unit. The doctors and everyone there went “that extra mile” in so many ways. My sincere thanks to all.
