Jennifer makes a meaningful difference in the work she does in Dialysis. She does so by setting a great example for other caregivers and by treating the patients she cares for with respect, dignity, compassion, and kindness. To name one example is a bit challenging, but every patient that comes into our unit and works with Jennifer, always remembers her for being patient and kind. No matter what is going on within these four walls or outside, the patients are always her first priority while working. The patients that we care for are very sick. Jennifer pays attention to the small details and never misses a beat. She is a role model within our department and is a great team player.

An example of a meaningful difference that Jennifer made was when we had a patient that was just starting treatment…They were visibly anxious and scared. Not only, did Jennifer explain everything that she was going to be doing before she did it, but she also did so in a calming way. She did not start treatment until the patient was completely and 100% ready. This took about 1 hour. I remember thinking to myself, if this were someone else, or maybe a different setting, this patient would not have received the attention and understanding that was given and displayed by Jennifer that day. The patient had a successful treatment and went on to remember Jennifer. The patient always has a smile on their face when they see her and thanks her for taking the time to really listen and care for the whole patient.
