Jessica checks all the boxes that make an Extraordinary Nurse. She is a great educator; very caring, lovely, and eager to help.
Jessica's role is as a nurse educator for our unit. Even though she has many responsibilities, she continuously manages to go above and beyond. There are so many instances I can write about that demonstrate Jessica's worthiness for a DAISY Award. She embodies the greatest qualities of nursing and healthcare to the great benefit of everyone she encounters. She is consistently doing an amazing job from the moment she comes in until the moment she steps out. Jessica checks all the boxes that make an Extraordinary Nurse. She is a great educator; very caring, lovely, and eager to help. You see Jessica everywhere as soon as she steps foot in our unit, she is answering lights, helping patients, helping nurses with discharges, settling patients, and even covering the nurses for our lunches.
When asked if she had her break, Jessica's response is, "Don't worry about me." That is when you know she hasn't even had her break yet nor is she even planning to. When she leaves my floor she is easily going to another floor to check on other nurses. She tries anything and everything to make our lives easy. Jessica knows when we are having a hard or busy day -- she never has to ask. The first words that come out of her mouth every day are, "What can I do to help you?" And, then she jumps right in to work without a complaint. She has the motivation to help and motivates and inspires others. She is by your side every step of the way.
She is selfless and prioritizes her colleagues and patients before she thinks about herself. Her energy and drive never waver and she gives it her all from beginning to end, regardless of how long or busy her day is. On top of all of her responsibilities as a nurse educator, she finds plenty of time to help those around her. We are extremely thankful for all she does for her colleagues, patients, their families, and CBMC.
