Rylee-Rae took care of a patient on Wednesday while I was working. The patient had a pretty grim diagnosis; however, Rylee did an exemplary job at taking great care of the patient and his family. The next day, Rylee was off and I had the patient that day. We were planning to discharge him home later that afternoon. Around lunch time Rylee came up to the unit, on her day off, and brought the patient some cookies. I was in the room with the patient when she walked in, and his face lit up. He was so grateful for the sweet and kind gesture from Rylee. He was very excited about the cookies, and it didn't take him long to sit down and gobble one up. The family was so impressed and thankful that Rylee took time out of her day to make their loved one feel special.

Shortly after, I got busy with another patient that needed my attention. After eating his cookie, the patient decided he wanted to go on a walk. Rylee then stayed on the unit to walk with him so that he was able to move around safely. The time and thought that Rylee took to care for this patient was sincere and sweet. Rylee does a great job at showing compassion towards her patients and is an amazing example of "Service is our Passion, and our Passion is You." We are lucky to have Rylee as part of our day shift team and I can't wait to see how she continues to grow and care for her patient's here in the Neuro ICU.
