I am submitting this DAISY Award for Ms. McDonald, Nurse Practitioner, NMRTU Meridian for a very special and poignant experience I had with her as a patient under her care. The medical appointment went way further and beyond simple medical care. Ms. McDonald has a very special gift that she uses to connect with and care for her patients. I had many reservations and concerns about a particular procedure that was about to happen, and she took the time and energy to move past the medical aspects of the procedure and touched on some very personal emotional, spiritual, and uplifting aspects. She took the time, way beyond the scheduled appointment block, to listen to my concerns and address every facet of my needs. She made me feel like I was the most important patient she has ever taken care of! It was truly a beautiful experience, and one that I have never had during a standard “medical appointment”. The very special part is that I know she treats every patient under her care in the same kind, unique and personal way. Ms. McDonald is to be praised and lauded. She is a true asset here. I take great pleasure in writing this in hopes that she will be recognized for her talent and the person that she is.
