Not once did I have to use the nurse call button for Ed because he was constantly checking on his patient.
My son was transferred to 12W SVU after an emergency surgery on his stomach and a week-long stay in PICU. I was very nervous and a little scared being transferred with so much still going on. For example, he was receiving TPN and lipids, and many IV medications, plus pain control. Ed was very helpful, supportive and knowledgeable, making me feel better about the move. Then my son started going thru heavy withdraw from meds that he couldn’t have because of the surgery. Ed was there, doing everything he could for my son, even helping me thru this very scary situation. He listened, he advocated, and was genuinely concerned. Ed went out of his way to do anything that he could for us. We were in the SVU for three weeks and we had Ed numerous times, and each and every time he was always very attentive, treated us with respect, and gave my son such great care. For 12 years Mott has been our home away from home, and we have had many different situations and different kinds of nurses. I will say that when a nurse is constantly checking in and seeing if there is anything they can do for us, assisting with diaper changes, and giving meds on time, I feel more at ease as a mother. Not once did I have to use the nurse call button for Ed because he was constantly checking on his patient. The meds were always on time, if not a little early so that my son’s med schedule wouldn’t be a mess. If I had questions or concerns, he was right there to answer or page the doctors when needed. He was friendly and easy to talk to, and we just really appreciate all that he did for us while we were there, and definitely commend Ed for his drive and hard work ethic!
