Allison began her nursing career at 3West and worked there for several years. While on 3W, Allison assumed the charge nurse role and was an active participant on the unit council and NGB. In 2021, Allison transferred to the BMTU.

Within her first few months on the unit, she started working on things to bring the unit together. One event Allison championed was creating a team of TJUH employees and their families to participate in the Big Climb. This event helped to raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and also helped to bring staff and their families together. Even in the rainy conditions, we climbed the stairs of the Lincoln Financial Field together.

Allison also frequently brings things in for the staff to add a little happiness and fun to the unit. She has brought candy, snacks, decorations, and fun props! These things have helped to boost the unit's morale.

Patients admitted to the BMTU have prolonged hospitalization. Allison understands that this can take an emotional toll on patients and their caregivers. Allison always tries to add a little sunshine to their day. Allison is the patient's cheerleader- always rooting them on to do what they need. Allison provides patient-centered care and will change her approach based on the patient's needs. Allison will always ensure safe, high-quality care is delivered to our patients.

Out of the unit staff, Allison would win the award for submitting the most event reports/great catches. She understands the importance of identifying issues and escalating them appropriately and quickly. Both this year and last year, Allison gave out Christmas presents to the patients that were admitted to the unit. Allison looked for items that the patients would like and could use. Little things like this can make the most significant impact and are greatly appreciated.

Allison has strong critical thinking skills and is a team player. Allison will always help out one of her coworkers or a patient who is in need. Since transitioning to the BMTU, Allison has helped to orient new RN staff. Just this past weekend, Allison set up a "fake" patient room to teach a group of new nurses some skills they have never seen before. Allison is seen as a teacher, leader, and mentor.

Allison also is solution-oriented. When our unit census dropped, and the outpatient JHN neuro infusion was in need of staff, Allison switched to work her shifts and picked up OT in this outpatient setting. Allison remains flexible and will switch her schedule or pick up additional time on BMT and in other areas when needed. Allison also understands how important it is to recognize others. She frequently nominates staff for DAISY Awards and great catches, or she sends them kudos or thank you on MyJeffHub, but now is a time that we recognize her for all she does. I appreciate Allison's dedication to doing the right thing, putting people first, to treat others how we would want to be treated, and it is a privilege to be able to work alongside her.
