Early one morning, Nurse Brad had given my husband a clean shave and bath. So, when I came for our visit, I was so surprised at his appearance.
My husband was diagnosed with a severe brain bleed(subdural hematoma) at Wayne General Hospital, Waynesboro, MS. We were rushed to Gulfport Memorial to be assessed by a neurosurgeon. My husband would undergo a craniotomy and be admitted to the ICU afterward where he received delicate and constant care from a group of excellent doctors and nurses. Although my husband did not survive the catastrophic brain bleed and his presence will be greatly missed, I would like to nominate one of the many wonderful nurses.
I must say Nurse Brad stood out among the best of the best nurses. Early one morning, Nurse Brad had given my husband a clean shave and bath. So, when I came for our visit, I was so surprised at his appearance. It was our anniversary. Not only was my husband presentable, although he was surrounded by hoses, IVs, and beeping machines, it was nice that Brad went the extra step to clean him up. Now not only was my husband nice in appearance, but Brad was also able to get him to respond to simple commands. Brad asked my husband to move his feet. There was a very delayed response so Brad asked him to squeeze his hand. Immediately, he squeezed his hand. Brad asked him to nod his head and immediately he nodded his head one time. Now any other anniversary we would have celebrated with flowers and dinner, but this day will be cherished forever! Thank you, Brad, for all your support, sharing, and caring. You gave me, with my husband, brief moments but they were precious moments. Please continue your service as a nurse. God bless you and keep you always.
