My husband and I came into the ER dept early morning. After telling Patient Access why we were there we were greeted by a nurse named Brook. It was so BUSY and I thought dear God just get me through this. I must say Brook made it all look very easy. I noticed her even after she turned my husband's care over to another nurse (because he was being held in a small room off from the waiting area), she got my husband a more comfortable bed and got him moved to the back in the ER she was still very vigilant and asked me if I wanted coffee, soda, even offering me a warm blanket. I truly think Brook cares for all her patients. My husband and I were there from about 1:30 am until 8 am and I think I saw her sit down 1 time (to eat her lunch and she was not down very long). She was at a run the entire night/morning. She even stuck her head in the room before she left and checked on us. It's the little things that mean so much. The world needs more Brooks. Carilion is VERY LUCKY to have her on their TEAM.
