My daughter was a patient at Barnes Jewish and Gabby was one of her nurses over the course of two weeks. My daughter is 15 years old and had many complications from surgery that required 3 more surgeries and delicate care from nurses. Gabby cared for my daughter and for the rest of my family (dad and sister). Gabby not only provided delicate care, but her care was thorough and excellent. Gabby was gentle and kind and knew how to build trust with my daughter and our family. She also taught my daughter how to be an advocate for herself when talking to doctors and nurses and made sure that she understood her voice is important and wanted. Gabby was attuned to her needs, and she met them with a cheerful confident spirit. She knew when she needed rest and she also knew when to push her to get out of bed and walk and complete her PT exercises. Our time at Barnes Jewish was very difficult with many ups and downs. Gabby gave us hope with each transition and the way that she informed, encouraged, and equipped us. We love you Gabby! You touched our lives, and you will always be remembered in our family.
