Angelica went out of her way to make me feel a lot better about my situation.

I was fortunate enough to have Angelica as my day nurse every day that I was at Wing Memorial Hospital. The first day I was there, the doctor told me that due to my infection it would be in my best interest to remove some of my piercings. I have had these piercings for a while, and they have become part of who I am, so I was very upset to have to remove them. I was also told that I would have to be in the hospital for at least 3 days which was also very upsetting to me due to this unforeseen event. Angelica went out of her way to make me feel a lot better about my situation.

Angelica helped calm me down by sharing personal experiences and offering alternative suggestions regarding my situation that really helped me! Also, my first "room" was the family lounge which I actually liked because of its uniqueness. One morning during my stay I was woken up and informed that I had to switch rooms. My second "room" was a bed at the end of the hall with a couple chairs. The "room" was next to the emergency exit stairwell with a big window in front of the bed that had no shades for privacy; there wasn't even a trash can or sharps container, and the area was very hot at first. This change really upset me especially on top of not feeling 100%.

Angelica advocated for me on multiple occasions regarding my new "room" and although she was unable to get me an actual room, I greatly appreciated the effort she put into trying to get me a room. Angelica got a privacy screen to put in front of the window and went out of her way to make my new living accommodations the best that they could be and make me as comfortable as possible. Talking with Angelica also helped me immensely throughout my hospital stay and she was able to make me laugh and boost my mood. Lastly Angelica was not my nurse at the time of my discharge, however, she made it a point to see me and say bye to me before I left. I'm an EMT and occasionally get transfer patients out of Wing Memorial Hospital so I'm really looking forward to getting to see one of my favorite nurses again (this time not as a patient)!
