We were able to have Nurse Katie three days in a row coming out of our daughter's brain surgery. Nurse Katie went over and above to advocate for our daughter and was a calm, knowledgeable presence in our recovery room on 5c. Katie had the experience we needed in this time of uncertainty and was aware not only of our daughter's needs but mine as a caregiver. Katie’s sensitivity to my need for rest, help with my daughter's care, or simply a kind word or two about my caregiving lightened the load both mentally and physically during the tough aftermath of brain surgery and the start of recovery. We are so grateful to nurse Katie and she will hold a special place in our hearts as we remember this time at Sick Kids.
