It was terrifying having my room suddenly full of people, but Teresa kept me calm and informed me about what was going on.
Teresa was my nurse when I delivered my second son. My biggest fear was having a C-section. Teresa did everything she could to help me avoid that outcome. She repositioned me repeatedly even though I was a big lady with an epidural! She encourages me and keeps me updated. But then my baby started having deceleration. It was terrifying having my room suddenly full of people, but Teresa kept me calm and informed me about what was going on.

Both Teresa and my OB worked hard to try to help me have a vaginal delivery. After almost 2 hours of pushing, we realized we needed a C-section. The reason I’m nominating Teresa is for what she did after that. When my baby came out, he wasn’t breathing right away. I was absolutely terrified that he was injured or damaged during the hours of pushing. I was so scared in the recovery room worried he had brain damage or some injury that we just hadn’t discovered yet. Teresa came and found me after her shift. She had all her stuff and was leaving but came and found me anyways. She told me that they ran labs in his cord blood, and everything was fine. I know that seems like a small thing, but I would’ve worried all night and all day until I saw my doctor and she told me those results. As a result, I could relax and start enjoying my little guy. That small act was the thing I appreciated the most about my stay. It’s these things that make a nurse great. As a nurse myself she makes me proud of what I do.
