Stephanie exemplifies an extraordinary nurse and role model to her team members. Recently, she led an education project to celebrate Black History Month. In our unit, we pride ourselves on creating an inclusive, diverse, and "belonging" work environment. Stephanie advocated for an education forum for our staff Feb 2022 by integrating love and celebrating prominent figures who contributed to the Civil Rights movement.

Stephanie created a Leading with Love poster board to share knowledge with her team members while also having some fun. Each day she sent out a paragraph clue of the chosen prominent figure. The paragraph contained childhood information, their struggle, and how they contributed to history. The first person to email her back the correct answer won a prize. After the prominent figure was correctly identified, Stephanie placed their picture on the daily calendar. At the end of the month, all team members who answered correctly were placed into a raffle for a special gift.

Leading with Love tied in both the celebration of Black History, as well as Valentine’s Day. Healthcare workers have faced many challenges during this ongoing pandemic. The word “LOVE” and how we chose to lead with our hearts daily will help us all get through it together. Kudos to Stephanie for your outstanding leadership and knowledge sharing. Although this nomination does not specifically focus on patient care, I wholeheartedly believe when you create an environment of caring and love among your team members, it transcends to a better experience for our patients and unit quality outcomes.
