After seeing three different PAs from my surgeon's office in three days, and still feeling awful with a fever which caused me to be tearful, Cassidy sat with me and listened attentively to my concerns. When she realized I had yet to see an MD, she called his office and they told her my surgeon was out of town. She requested one of the partners to see me and he came that evening. She asked for and was given additional meds to get my pain under better control. Cassidy told me that she consulted the patient advocate to assist with getting proper care. She was my nurse the next day, and soon I had my surgeon's partner in to see me, and a hospitalist and Infectious Disease specialist on board, too. She made sure lab work was ordered and encouraged a repeat CAT scan as my condition had not improved after 3 days of an IV antibiotic. She was my advocate when I was too sick and in pain to push for myself. She got the ball rolling and got things done. I am in awe of her kindness in dealing with a sick and tearful patient and with her strength to stand up and fight for me when I couldn't. I will forever be grateful for her and will remember her whenever I think of this difficult time in my life.
