My husband had a stroke on December 26 and the level of care he received at Riverview Medical Center was outstanding. Every nurse in every department we encountered was very professional and caring. A special shout out to Nurse Rhonda on the 5th floor Acute Rehabilitation Unit who went above and beyond to ensure my husband was most comfortable, she was so sweet to my husband and I.

Nurse Rhonda went above and beyond the call of duty while my husband was her patient. She was kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable. Having suffered a stroke, my husband was dependent on her care. As his wife, I was terrified of the situation and the hardships we would be facing. Nurse Rhonda made a true effort to put herself in our shoes. She was caring and showed us empathy. She explained everything she was doing in detail yet did it in layman's terms. When my husband was having anxiety one night, a feeling he had never experienced, Nurse Rhonda spoke with us and calmly explained that what he was feeling was a normal occurrence with stroke patients. She stayed with us until my husband was calm. On another particular night, my husband's sugar dropped severely low. Nurse Rhonda quickly responded and got his sugar back up to normal within minutes. She explained why she gave him what she did and in turn taught me how to handle the situation should it occur in the future. We feel lucky to have had her on our team. Thank you, everyone.
