Her empathy, compassion, and understanding of us were amazing.
Jayci had my grandma for two days in a row and was the charge nurse on the 3rd day. On that third day, she maintained checking in on my grandma (and my family) throughout the entire process and kept them beautifully informed each day she was with us. She listened to our questions and concerns and answered them as if it were her own Mom/Grandma laying in the bed. Her empathy, compassion, and understanding of us were amazing. Whether it was a request I missed, standard practice, or just her own special touch, she printed a rhythm from the pulse for us to all have on that last day. There are times when I wonder if the pandemic ruined all of us, and this stay in the ICU reminded me what nursing and healthcare are all about. Jayci showed a level of caring in her scope as an RN that can’t be taught, and I will forever be grateful she had my grandma those last few days.
