When we went back and John took my vitals, and weight, I told him I have white coat syndrome and so my blood pressure was likely going to be elevated. He said he understood as he has it too. He was not able to get what he felt was an accurate heart rate, said it was low and that he would take it again in the exam room. Before taking my blood pressure in the exam room and rechecking my pulse he was chatty. It was like talking to an old friend. After a few minutes, he took my blood pressure and said it was a little elevated, but not much, and was lower than the last time I was seen. He made me feel comfortable and it showed in the numbers. He is an excellent nurse and I want to make sure he knows he is appreciated! If I knew how to, I’d request him every time I am seen! He is just absolutely wonderful and made me feel like more than just a patient! He added a human element to this visit and it helped with my anxiety about being there at all!
