My hope would be that every patient would have a nurse that is as highly qualified and compassionate as Rebecca.
Caring, compassion, and communication are three necessary qualities of an excellent nurse, and Rebecca exhibited all of these just during the one day she was with us. It was a very stressful day waiting for a bronchoscopy and then heading into surgery, but she was there to help us through it all. Rebecca made sure she came in as soon as I arrived and introduced herself, and let me know the plan of action for the day. She was very attentive to my brother's needs during the day, never letting the buzzers and alarms drone on. Her compassion was really exhibited as my brother began to get emotional about the surgery and its dangers. She took the time to offer to call a clergy and gently talked to him and calmed him down. She clearly communicated with him and me the plan and what to expect after the surgery. My hope would be that every patient would have a nurse that is as highly qualified and compassionate as Rebecca. And that every nurse took the time to calm their patients (and families) and communicate about the plan and what the next step would be. Rebecca calmed our nerves and made us feel at ease with what was to come. Thank you, Rebecca, for being an extraordinary nurse!
