The criteria of a DAISY nomination is going above and beyond of a "good nurse." A good nurse is a good teammate as well. This nurse is the night shift cheerleader of Ortho Trauma. He brings cheer to his staff with his calm demeanor and lots of food. He basically would do anything for the patients and the staff. He ran to Costco and got a birthday cake for a dayshift employee after working all night. He will come in early for the dayshift charge so she can see a grandchild's ball game. He helped serve breakfast three days in a row for the staff at Christmas after working each night, he checked on a coworker when they were off sick. He doesn't pass a call light without answering it. He participated in the plane pull for charity. He even cleaned off the cars when covered with snow for the dayshift when there was inclement weather. This nurse, Steve Fero, is full of jokes but seriously loves his work, the patients, and his coworkers.
