She arranged for my friend to be able to have some of her favorite food, changed her out of the hospital gown and into a dress, did her hair, painted her nails, and decorated the hospital room for the party.
I want to nominate Olivia for the extraordinary care she gave my friend and her family during a very difficult time. My friend was nearing the end of her life and her family wanted to have one last anniversary celebration for her and her husband before making the difficult decision to place her in hospice. Olivia helped get as many family members as possible into the hospital to participate in this celebration. She arranged for my friend to be able to have some of her favorite food, changed her out of the hospital gown and into a dress, did her hair, painted her nails, and decorated the hospital room for the party. Olivia knew that my friend was so sick she may not appreciate what Olivia was doing, but she did it anyway. Instead of having the celebration in a sad, drab hospital room, Olivia brought in the love that every anniversary party deserves. Olivia did not need to do any of this, but went above and beyond for my friend and her family. I will be eternally grateful for what Olivia did for my friend and her family!

This was one of our long-standing LVAD patients who transitioned to end-of-life care. Olivia and the staff wanted to hold one last anniversary party before the patient’s final days. One of the patient’s goals was to live long enough to celebrate her wedding anniversary with her husband and family. Olivia took it upon herself to buy the patient a dress, and get her all dolled up and ready for the party! Olivia also thought to have the patient sign her name on her final anniversary card to her husband. There was cake and décor, balloons, and streamers. It was a very beautiful event and Olivia and the staff made it so special for the patient and her family. The patient passed away only 2 days later, surrounded by her family.
