Jen was assigned to be the nurse for pediatric trauma patients. On that day, she was the primary nurse for the young 11-year-old trauma patient that later passed away. I would like to recognize the amazing care she provided for both the patient and her family. From the moment the patient arrived, Jen remained with the patient and her family to provide the support that was needed at the time. From assisting with resuscitation efforts, holding the patient’s hand when her Mom was not able to be at her bedside, to promising her mother to walk with her to the morgue. Jennifer displayed all the characteristics that are the WakeWay. She went above and beyond by attending the memorial service for this precious patient where she was warmly greeted by the family and invited to sit in the VIP section with their closest friends and family. I know the tragic experience was made as comforting as possible because of Jen’s commitment to compassionate care.
