Sandy has been an RN for over 40 years. She has dedicated her life to serving the sick with excellence, compassion, and integrity. Sandy worked at Doctors North on 3 North and in Surgical Intensive Care for many years. She also worked in ICU/CCU in the Open-Heart Recovery Area at Doctors West. For the last 10 years, Sandy has been working as an Outpatient Heart Failure Navigator/Outcomes RN, assisting patients who are discharged from the hospital with assessing their need for treatment, medications, and follow-up.

Sandy has spent countless hours assisting patients who would have ended up hospitalized without her intervention. It is estimated that the average cost of hospitalization for Heart Failure is about $11,000, so not only has this benefitted patients' health but also has saved countless dollars for Ohio Health. Sandy has found when calling patients that there have been some medication discrepancies and has filed Icare reports to assist with a process change. She worked with our outcomes Manager to bring this to the Cardiology Group. Because of her hard work, there has been a change in the process between Cardiology and Hospitalists to communicate the medications more effectively for more accurate discharge instructions (AVS) for the patients. The process now includes a Cardiology sign-off note specifying medication and dosages that the Cardiology Group orders to communicate with the Hospitalists to ensure the safety and efficacy for the patient. it is a joy and honor to work with Sandy as she is positive and willing to put patient care at the forefront of everything she does.
