She was always there for me when I needed her and comforted me as if I was a member of her family.
I have a child who is soon to be 18 years old. He has been coming to this clinic since he was 2. Cathy King has always been an Extraordinary Nurse. My child has had cancer 3 different times in his life and Cathy has always made the process better by being there to comfort me through many situations. During certain procedures, Cathy would sit with me and comfort me and help me through the process of many painful situations. My son adores her. Sometimes he asks just to go up and see Cathy if we are close to the hospital even though we don’t go regularly anymore. Sometimes I wonder how I would have gotten through some of those days without her. She is loved by many families at our clinic. My son is not in treatment anymore and in fact, he is 8 years out of having a grade 4 GBM. We are fortunate to have him doing well today.
Recently my mom was diagnosed with Cancer. She was a patient at another facility and I was not happy with the care she was receiving. I wanted my mom treated where my son had the best of care Prisma Hospital system. I called on my good “nurse” Cathy King. Even though this situation had nothing to do with their clinic she was able to help me navigate the process of getting my mother cared for at Prisma Hospital. This is something she did not have to do and I am sure it was a little time-consuming for her but she jumped right in and wanted to help me with no questions asked. Today we have my mom being treated at Prisma and I feel so much better.
I am so thankful to Cathy for all the years that she cared for my son and me a mother who was deeply saddened by a child with cancer 3 different times. She was always there for me when I needed her and comforted me as if I was a member of her family. Now she is there for me with my mom when she doesn’t have to be. She is extraordinary and I am so thankful for her and her commitment to being a nurse and caring for others. She truly puts her heart and soul into her work and I would love to be the one to have her honored for her Outstanding work as a nurse. This nurse goes truly beyond her nursing duties to help families through very difficult times.
