Tamara is a phenomenal triage nurse. She always has an even and kind demeanor but is also very efficient and great with communication. She is excellent at advocating for her patients and understanding the flow of the department.
On a recent shift, I got a call from Tamara asking me to see a patient in triage as soon as possible. She told me the patient had an umbilical hernia and it appeared incarcerated. Sure enough, when I saw the patient, the hernia was bluish-purple in appearance. Thanks to Tamara's quick recognition and communication, I was able to assess the patient quickly and speak with a surgeon, expediting care for the patient. She then also helped to arrange a bed for the patient given his critical condition.
Tamara is vital to our emergency department, and I am always immensely relieved and appreciative when she is on.
