She provided my mom with positive and encouraging words, and every question my mom asked Lucy, Lucy answered well enough that my mom understood.
Lucy was the light in my mother’s darkness. I cannot thank her enough for making my mom feel at ease when she felt embarrassed and felt she was being a nuisance, especially to the care assistant helping Lucy. We did not expect that night in particular to go the way it did. Lucy did not sit down for one second just to make sure my mom was okay. That night she did two jobs: she was my mom’s nurse and her care assistant. I had never seen a nurse do what Lucy did. She changed bedsheets, sanitized the floor, changed and cleaned my mom, and cleaned the portable toilet. She did all that not once, but all night long while having about twenty other things to do and she did it all with a smile and no complaint. She treated my mom and me as if we were family. She provided my mom with positive and encouraging words, and every question my mom asked Lucy, Lucy answered well enough that my mom understood. She does her job so well and is so knowledgeable in her field. The nights we saw Lucy, she was kind and positive. Her kindness speaks volumes about what a genuine person she is. Rio Grande Regional Hospital should be proud that they hired such an amazing person. She is the future of Rio Grande Regional Hospital. We are very thankful for having Lucy as my mom’s nurse. She is caring, kind, compassionate, and above all, very understanding. Thank you so much, Lucy, you are a gift from heaven.
