Every single day she was on the floor she was attentive, knowledgeable, helpful, patient, and kind, and took the time to understand my mother's situation.
My mother is a stage 4 lung cancer FIGHTER and recently she was admitted to RMC, 2N (via emergency room) in a dire state- she was confused, extremely weak, frail, and defeated as she became more cognitively aware of her situation. As her family, we all flew to her side and were prepared to lose our mother before Christmas. We were lost trying to understand, process, and navigate it all at the same time. Amazingly, the doctor (nephrology) immediately identified a kidney issue which was stabilized and we got the best Christmas miracle ever, to see our witty and strong-willed mother come back to life. Regardless of the additional scans which revealed further progression. We all had tough choices to make and hard truths to digest in a very short amount of time during those first few days in 2N. I say that to say this; the first morning we woke up in our room on 2N I rolled over in the visiting chair to see what I now know to be a living angel. My mother was out of it and didn't understand what was happening, she waited until I fell asleep, and pulled all of her leads off and her IV out!

The angel I mentioned before is Caitlyn Delesky, our DAISY! If nothing else she should be nominated for best hair on 2N- she had the most beautiful red flowing blowout I've ever seen! Anyway, that first interaction between Caitlyn, my mother, and me exuded nothing but patience and understanding. Every single day she was on the floor she was attentive, knowledgeable, helpful, patient, and kind, and took the time to understand my mother's situation. All of this while getting to know us on a personal level-which none of us will ever forget during one of the scariest and most critical times for us as a family! She went above and beyond making her rounds and answering the call bell- she ACED the human component which is so commonly lost in and amongst the health systems. She recognized this was someone's life, someone's mother, someone's high school sweetheart!

My mother unfortunately has vacationed back at Riverview a few times since her extensive visit beginning back in December. Caitlyn even took the time to come and visit my mother during her most recent stay! It absolutely gives me hope for my children to come across people as special as Caitlyn. We are forever grateful to have crossed paths and wish her the best in everything she does in life. We would love to see her recognized for her outstanding compassion and dedication. Thank you so much!
