G - Generous in sharing their knowledge: Patti is a tenured member of the night shift. As an experienced nurse she has helped with the orienting and training of countless nurses on the night shift. She is always welcoming and approachable; staff know they can go to her with any questions or concerns and she will always be willing to guide them and/or help them get the correct answers.
S - Supports the I-CARE values: Patti's commitment to patients and GSH is exemplary. She always sees the good in others and promotes a positive environment. She is an example of each of the pillars always displaying integrity, compassion, accountability, and respect, and strives for excellence.

Every department that has encounters with her (physicians, APPs, nursing supervision, bed placement, respiratory therapy, etc.,) embraces her presence. N - Nurtures novice nurses: Since the inception of SICU Patti has been a member of the night staff. During the last 11 years, she has precepted countless RNs. In recent years as charge and now as ANM, she is an invaluable resource to novice nurses. She is always providing feedback and is the first to give praise for accomplishments and a job well done.

R - Respects patients, family, and coworkers: Patti is always respectful in her interactions with patients, families, and staff. She takes the time to get to know each of her patients so she promotes wellness. Even for vented patients, Patti will inquire to families if there is a certain type of music that the patient likes and will play that for them while bathing and providing care. If she knows her patient follows a particular team, she'll make sure the game is on and she tells them the latest scores. It's not only patients she looks out for but she promotes wellness for the entire staff. Each year she gifts lavender-inspired wellness gifts to the entire staff.
S - Serves as a role model for all staff: Patti is a role model in every sense of the word. Her dedication, demeanor, clinical knowledge, and compassion are an example to all; she is the nurse many novice nurses aspire to be.
E - Excellent clinical assessment skills: Patti has superior clinical skills that are relied upon and trusted. In emergent situations, novice nurses take comfort in her presence knowing she will be there to help stabilize a patient. In caring for her own patients she is quick to report changes and thorough in her assessments.
Additional Information: Patti has been a nurse at Good Samaritan for many years working on 4 North before coming to SICU. Her kindness and personalization of care are an inspiration to others and embody the spirit of the DAISY Award.
