She has been with us every step of the way. She feels like family. When you go through a situation like this there are very few that understand the impact. Cindy gets it.
My husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 Head and Neck Cancer in July of 2017. He started Radiation and Chemo in September of 2017. It wasn't until a few weeks after my husband's treatment that we got assigned Cindy as our infusion nurse for our 8-hour day at the infusion clinic. My husband was not doing well and I was feeling hopeless. My husband had recently been put on a feeding tube due to his drastic weight loss and his inability to stop throwing up. Then came Cindy. She spent the day trying to understand our situation. I had told her that the anti-nausea meds were making my husband sick. She watched as we gave him the meds and within minutes he was vomiting. It was her suggestion that we try a different drug. She went to our oncologist and got approval to try it. It worked and it got my husband through his final weeks of treatment.
Fast forward 5 years almost to the day my husband has had a third reoccurrence. The second time we were able to do surgery, with no chemo or radiation. The third time we were not so lucky. We walked into the infusion center for my husband's first treatment but who was there to greet us but Cindy...She was ready. She has reviewed the charts. She remembered every detail of our situation 5 years earlier. I cannot tell you the peace of mind this brought us. She has been with us every step of the way. She feels like family. When you go through a situation like this there are very few that understand the impact. Cindy gets it. Cindy was put on this earth to do exactly what she is doing and we are both better because of our relationship with her. Cindy is a rare angel that needs to be recognized for the lives she touches daily!
