Rosa sat on my bed and said, "Let's wash your hair and then French braid it because this war we are going to fight and win, you will need pretty hair."
Rosa first walked into my room after a month’s stay with my shunt malfunction. I was sitting on the couch looking out the window in a daze in a deep depression! One of the first things she did after introducing herself was walked to the couch and said, "How are you doing today?” After all that I had been through for so long on that month-long stay, my eyes filled up with tears because no one else had taken the time to ask that simple question. She listened and was in no rush.
After that she became the one thing that got me up in the morning! Something I will never forget about her is she walked into my room and saw that I was nervous about my upcoming surgery, she sat on my bed and said, "Let's wash your hair and then French braid it because this war we are going to fight and win, you will need pretty hair." While doing this she said, "Put this song on your phone – it reminds me of you!" The song was Unstoppable by Sia and I now listen to it every day!
Note: This is Rosa's 2nd DAISY Award!
