Your presence brought my partner and me great comfort and you made me feel at ease from the offset.
Lauren - you were absolutely amazing when I had my son via caesarean section. Your presence brought my partner and me great comfort and you made me feel at ease from the offset. After the c-section you performed all the newborn checks on my son and managed to identify the tiniest skin tag and his 90% tongue tie. Your attention to detail is second to none, the skin tag previously mentioned is absolutely tiny and for you to notice it in seconds, I thought was amazing.

After the surgery you made sure I was clean and dry and you then wheeled me to recovery. There is a 6 year age gap between my son and my daughter, so when I felt embarrassed to ask if I should wind him after a feed you didn’t make me feel silly or like I should've already known. You were kind and you were patient, despite it being 4 am. I remember asking if you’d had a break, and you said you hadn’t and I remember wondering how on earth you managed to be so calming and so professional when you hadn't even taken the time for a cup of tea. You encouraged me to rest once my partner had left and assured me that should my baby need anything, you were right on hand if I needed assistance.

After finalising all of our paperwork, you wheeled me and my son up to the ward, ensuring I hadn’t left anything behind. On the ward you made sure my phone was plugged in to charge, I had fresh sheets on my bed, and I had spare sheets for the crib. I really don’t expect you to remember us, you must see so many women and babies day in and day out. But we remember you. We remember the impact you had on our son's birth and you will not be forgotten. Myself, my partner and our baby boy, thank you from the bottom of our hearts although this still does not seem enough.
