Brooke was taking care of a patient on comfort measures only. The patient began to have a change in breathing pattern early in the morning, so Brooke woke the patient’s wife to gently explain to her what was happening. Brooke told the wife that if there were other family members that wanted to be at his bedside then it was time to call. Brooke was very attentive to the patient, making sure that he was properly medicated in accordance with his symptoms to frequently assess him. A few hours later the patient passed peacefully with his family surrounding him ensuring that the wife had the support that she needed. If it weren’t for Brooke’s compassion and attention to detail, the patient may have passed without the wife knowing and without the rest of the family present.

This is such a great testament to the type of nurse and person that Brooke is.

Brooke is such a spectacular resource for her peers and a fantastic nurse to all of the patients and their families. We all would be more than happy to have Brooke take care of our loved ones if they were in the hospital and we are so lucky to have Brooke on our team.
