When you lift up each Pooh’s shirt, underneath you find a cardiac rhythm strip Elizabeth had printed out on Valentine’s Day and affixed to each bear.
What we do matters. Elizabeth is a night shift nurse from MICU. While she was only his nurse for 3 days, she has been absolutely wonderful with our Daddy and us. I left a piece of a Pooh bear with my Daddy so he wasn’t alone. She made sure he had it at all times. Winnie the Pooh, figures into several of the stories in the family, particularly between daughter and dad. This nurse got to hear several of those stories and was inspired by at least one of them.

On a night when she was not his nurse, she came in and said she had a “little something” for his wife and kids (all adults). She brought in a small stuffed Pooh for each of them. But that’s not all. When you lift up each Pooh’s shirt, underneath you find a cardiac rhythm strip Elizabeth had printed out on Valentine’s Day and affixed to each bear. The most thoughtful gift I have ever seen, given at exactly the moment it was needed.

What we do matters. Elizabeth clearly understands this and offered a precious moment of comfort to a heartbroken family. We love them, and we’ll forever have our Daddy in our hearts and with us because of this kind gesture. And we are extremely grateful for that. While it has not been easy saying goodbye I am extremely thankful for having the opportunity to meet Elizabeth.
